Deadly Toy - Required Surgical Removal
ZippyTuff Teetherz – Kona the Koala
This is a terrible toy for puppies. My puppy very quickly chewed through the rope and swallowed it. I didn’t realize this until I found the koala, but couldn’t find the rope. 2 days later my puppy was vomiting every 2 hours – I had to take him to the ER for surgery to extract the rope. He nearly died. This toy shouldn’t be given to any dog, especially an active puppy.
Hi there Laura,
My name is Arielle and I am reaching out to you on behalf of Zippypaws and our Customer Service team.
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincerest apologies that your poor pup had swallowed the rope from his ZippyTuff Teetherz toy, resulting in him being taken to the vet. We don’t wish that on anyone, especially when it involves our toys. I do hope he is doing better now though! Secondly, if you are able, could you please provide photos of the toy in question, before and after play, if possible? We can send this to our manufacturing team for further investigation and to help eliminate issues like this from occurring in the future. Third, as a kind reminder, we always urge pet owners to make sure to supervise their pet during all play along with taking into consideration the size and type of play your dog exhibits.
I do apologize again that this happened, I can only imagine the scare it might have given you. We would love to help out in some way, please reach out to us at zippy@zippypaws.com so we can assist you further.
Thank you.
